ABOUT
Jimboomba Scout Group.
We are a family focused, educationally based group that focuses on the development and wellbeing of children using the scouting method. Scouting is education for life, it fills the gap left by the school system and develops self-knowledge, the need to explore, to discover and to want to know more. Scouts discover a world beyond the class room, they learn by doing and are encouraged to pass that knowledge onto others. Through this process scouting aims to develop the childs socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and physically.
At Jimboomba Scouts we function on three levels
The first level is delivered by the Youth Leaders, who volunteer their time and their energy to each every child new skills. Their role is to deliver an exciting program in accordance to Scouts Australia guidelines. When they sign up they commit to undertake study which helps them to meet that expectation. We are always looking for the next generation of leaders suitable to help the youth of tomorrow. If you think you have what it takes then let us know!
The second level on which we function is by means of a support committee, parent helpers that help run the day to day functions within a Scout group. The committee’s role is to provide the Scout leaders with everything they need to deliver their program and coordinate for the youth members which can entail, raising of funds for new equipment, arranging working bees and helping the group advertise to keep the den running. These roles include chairperson, secretary, treasurer, fundraising coordinator, publicity coordinator, quartermaster and other committee members.
The third level is for everyone else, who has not taken up any other role within the group. Volunteering their time to help raising the funds needed to keep the den and the scouting programs running or even help taking youth members to camp. This is usually a few hours at fundraising event or a working bee. So, when your child becomes a member of Jimboomba Scouts you are required to support that journey and become one of the Jimboomba Scout family.
